Come and ride with us…

About Age & Experience

Depending on the maturity of the rider; his or her ability to follow directions; and the rider’s willingness to take instruction, we teach all ages and abilities, novice to advanced. We have worked with children as young as two and adults well into their 70s. In general, chronological age is not as important as the passion for learning or for improving, and the willingness to take and heed instruction. Horses are large animals and as such, it is important for Ellen to be able to conduct the lesson and maintain authoritative control for the rider’s protection, as well as for the horse.

Lesson Structure

Lessons are offered individually or in a small group format of 3-4 individuals. Each riding lesson lasts approximately one hour. Riders are expected to arrive 30 minutes prior to a lesson in order to help prepare his or her mount for the ring. This helps to build a connection between the animal and its rider. Riders must help return their animal to its stall upon completion. Total lesson time is approximately 2 hours.
